From the interviews that I have undertaken I can tell that most of the people in my target audience associate the colours purple and pink with BBC Three, this means that my ident should incorporate these colour in someway as either the main or secondary colours of the ident. After reviewing the results from the second question I can see that most of the people associated with my target audience associate comedy with the channel BBC Three, knowing this I should try to incorporate some sort of comedic aspect into my ident. Upon looking at the answers to the third question in my interview I have determined that most of my target audience prefer the first ident I showed them and one prefer the simpler one. Channel 4 simpsons identThis ident for channel four is 19 seconds long and therefore is mid range for an ident - meaning it is not overly long or short. The ident is based of one of the shows that channel 4 show on a regular basis (The Simpsons) up until the conveying of the channel name the ident is more complex as it uses the idea of a tv show as its setup, however after when the numeral four is displayed around 00:13 it becomes much simpler and conveys a simple message. The scene starts with the main character on a hammock laying down, then he discovers beer hanging from a power line above him, he then proceeds to climb the near by tree and attempts to grab the beer - which electrocutes him causing a power surge, the camera is then cut to an arial shot of the town in which the power surge disables some of the lights in the town creating a visual representation of the number four. The target audience of this ident would be the same audience that The Simpsons is targeted at - which is 17 - 45. The purpose of this ident is to both advertise the channel its self as well as one of its prominent shows. The ident reflects the corporate identity by showing that the channel can also be light hearted in showing comedy as well as many other genres. This ident incorporates both a voice over to inform the viewer of what is happening on the channel as well as sound effects that are normally used on the program. Channel 4 used the Simpsons in this ident because it was a show well known to be unique to the channel at the time and it would have been shown just prior to the airing of the show. cartoon network identThis ident for Cartoon Network is 15 seconds long and is in the shorter length range of idents. The ident is very simple as it just contains the iconic logo of Cartoon Network on a pink background. The Ident consists of the logo (2 letters in cubes) constantly unzipping a disguise that mimics the other letters image, this continues repeating over and over until both letters look at each other then jump up creating the static Cartoon Network logo. The target audience of this ident would be that of Cartoon network which is ages 7 - 15. This ident stays consistent with its target audience in it uses a theme of overlapping disguises which is popular in some children cartoons. The purpose of the ident is to provide confirmation to the viewer of what channel they are watching whilst also showing that the channel is light hearted and fun. The ident sticks to the corporate identity of Cartoon Network as it comes across as comedic and child like, using flat colours and lots of bouncing movements. The sound in the ident sounds like classic sound effect that have always been used in cartoon with an addition of a zip sound effect for when the logo starts to unzip itself. The logo of cartoon network is in black and white as a throwback to the older cartoon that were around before colour television. BBC Three identThis ident for BBC Three is only 14 seconds long which puts it in the shorter range of idents. The ident is relatively simple as it is just the standard logo of BBC Three at the time of creation. The logo consists of a neon sign which accurately resembles the BBC Three logo of the time, which is switch on my a hand that approaches from the bottom right of the screen, the neon lights of the logo start to come on slowly and finally fully glow (as neon lights in reality would). The target audience of this ident would be that of the same of BBC Three in general which is 16 - 34. The ident sticks to this audience by providing a image that resembles a neon sign, in which some people from a younger age bracket wouldn't recognise. The purpose of this ident is to reassure the viewer of the channel they are watching and also to convey the type of channel that this is. It does this by using a design that is linked more to adult advertisement - and example of where this is used to advertise to adults is outside of bars or an off licence. The ident reflects that corporate identity by using the same technique as previously mentioned in advertising in a way that the target audience would be used to. This ident incorporates both background noise in the form of white noise created from light bulbs and what sounds like pistons whilst a voice over talks about what is currently happening on the channel. The neon sign uses the colour pink that is well known throughout the channel.
